This year’s Online Safety Week takes place March 19th to 24th, 2012
The vision for Calgary Online Safety Week centres around the notion of pulling together key stakeholders within the community – many of whom already have individual activities related to the topic underway – to combine resources in order to create maximum exposure over a one week period.
The central audience includes parents, teachers, and schoolchildren in Calgary and the surrounding communities. CEPF coordinates a series of events throughout the week, along with educational resources, to raise awareness around the issue of online safety.
2012 Online Safety Week Launches with a two hour free event on Monday March 19th. – Join us at McLeod Hall AB in the Telus Convention Centre to hear Janine Warner for a dynamic keynote presentation, REPUTATION ON THE LINE. Janine takes us on a journey through the internet, sharing hilarious stories of mistaken identity, devestating accounts of cybershame, cautionary tales about the rise of cybervigilantism, and inspiring tales of seemingly instant online success. Along the way, Janine explores how your reputation on the internet can change your life (for better or worse), and how to actively create an online image that does justice to – and maybe even looks better than – the real you.
